Wildfires are raging across Australia, devastating landscapes, wildlife, and communities. Many have been displaced, thousands of homes have been destroyed, and at least 24 people have been killed.
The people of Australia need help -- and I’m asking you to join me in making a contribution to the Australian Red Cross. Chip in whatever you can to help Australia recover and rebuild.
When California suffers from devastating wildfires, we step up and help one another time and time again. Now, it’s our duty to lend a hand to Australians affected by this tragedy we know all too well.
My thoughts are with the first responders who are battling these blazes on the front lines. These fires are not normal -- and the effects of climate change have exacerbated them to a point worse than they’ve ever been.
Just as Californians found the strength to rebuild, I know the people of Australia will do the same. But they shouldn’t have to do it alone.
