I’m honored to have been elected as the next Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives by my colleagues.

My tenure as Chairman of the House Democrats was a time of profound legislative achievement in the face of unprecedented challenges — from a once-in-a-century pandemic, to a violent insurrection on the Capitol.

Time and again, Democrats united to deliver For The People, and we’re just getting started.

As I take on the role of House Democratic Leader in 2023, I’ll seek to empower every member of our diverse Caucus.

The House Democratic Caucus is the most authentic representation of the gorgeous mosaic of the American people, anchored in our incredible diversity of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, region, life experience and ideology. I promise to prioritize and value input from every corner of the Caucus.

As we prepare to temporarily relinquish the gavels, House Democrats will be locked in a fierce governmental, political and messaging struggle with extreme MAGA Republicans. We must also take back the majority in November 2024.

House Democrats have already done so much to lower costs, create better-paying jobs and ensure safer communities. As we build upon this progress legislatively, it will also be our job to make sure that everyday Americans know that the values that unite the Heartland, Urban America, Rural America, Suburban America and Small Town America are also Democratic values.

We must show up early and in unexpected places. It will require the involvement, creativity and input of Democrats everywhere to be successful. Together, we can make it happen.

Building upon our shared journey, I look forward to leading House Democrats forward and creating a better future together for all Americans. Thank you for supporting me every step of the way.
