Our Tribal Outreach Program accomplished so much to get out the vote in New Mexico’s sovereign Native communities in the recent election. This program was key to the relational organizing and lasting grassroots outreach that is essential in these areas. We noticed this program works best when the organizers we hire are from the same communities they work in. They not only understand these communities and their issues, but are also passionate and dedicated to helping them. It is critical to ensuring Democrats can build and maintain relationships with New Mexico’s Native communities, which are often overlooked or taken for granted in the political process. Without the Native vote and strong relationships with our tribal communities, New Mexico may not remain blue.

Since 2020, we’ve hired more full-time employees and our Tribal Outreach Team grew to 10 people, who worked alongside our Coordinated Campaign Staff. The organizers we hired were from these communities and many even spoke the languages, leading to increased turnout and lasting relationships with the Democratic Party. These factors made an enormous impact on Democrats’ across the board success. We have plans to continue our outreach with the foundation our organizers built in the upcoming year, but we need your support to build the pro gram [[link removed]] .

Our Tribal Outreach Program facilitates Native involvement in elections by implementing targeted, grassroots Get-Out-The-Vote efforts, provides election education for Natives to understand the issues in each election and their rights to participate, and generates more accurate data on voter registration and turnout within almost all New Mexican Native pueblos and sovereign nations. Each of these points are crucial to improving upon Democrats’ performance in future elections at all levels of government.
Your support will not only ensure that our Tribal Outreach Team can continue the amazing work that will lead to more Democratic victories in upcoming cycles, but it will also introduce young Native registrants to the program, foster their career growth with internship opportunities, and engage tribal communities to be more proactive in elections of all levels.
