We've got more great ways to connect through Support, Education, and Advocacy this week, as we honor Pansexual and Panromantic Pride Day. We also urge our trans friends and loved ones to take the U.S. Trans Survey; today is the last day! See the Advocacy section below for more information.

Mama Has a Mustache: Free to all for the month of December!

The past year has seen waves of anti-trans legislation rolling out across the country, book bans in our schools prohibiting access to honest and inclusive education and books, and continued physical violence against LGBTQ+ people.

Our friends on the Mama Has a Mustache team have felt the pressure, as they continue to receive harmful and violent messages regarding their lovely film.

That's why for the entire month of December, they are making the film available to everyone for free. Visit pflagnation.al/MHAMDec2022 to watch and share the film today!

A few weeks ago, during Transgender Awareness Week, we had an opportunity to talk about the film with filmmaker Sally Rubin. ICYMI, you can still watch it on demand

Let's support the Mama Has a Mustache team as they push back in the name of our trans, nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ loved ones, and in support of kids getting to be who they are. Let’s unite to support and spread a message of freedom, affirmation, and empowerment.

Three Steps to Being a Better Human Rights Advocate

Human Rights Day is on December 10th. Take a look at some of these resources to learn how to be a better advocate for human rights.

  1. Learn: Head to the United Nations website to learn about Human Rights Day and this year’s focus on equality. Visit PFLAG’s website on advocacy to learn about some of the ways that you can use your voice to advocate for others' rights.
  2. Watch: Revisit our PFLAG Academy Online session on LGBTQ+ history to learn how our community’s past intersects with human rights efforts today. Watch some episodes of Something To Talk About Live! that address international human rights issues, including this episode about anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in Hungary.
  3. Share: Consider sharing Human Rights Day materials across social media, using hashtags #StandUp4HumanRights and #HumanRightsDay. Stay connected to PFLAG on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The U.S. Trans Survey closes TODAY!

If you are transgender, please take the survey today and help the National Center for Transgender Equality and others paint a more complete picture of the trans experience in the U.S. So much of what we know about trans experiences comes from the U.S. Trans Survey-- healthcare outcomes, housing security, education, family life, and more.

When transgender people share their stories and share their experiences of joy and pain, lives are improved for all trans people.

If you are transgender, please set aside aside 60 minutes to take the U.S. Trans Survey. If you know or love someone who is transgender, please share the link--and then share with others!

Why is Pansexuality Still So Often Misunderstood?

December 8th is Pansexual and Panromantic Pride Day. There is a significant amount of misunderstanding about what pansexuality is, when it is appropriate to use that word, how it relates to other language around sexual orientation, and how its definition has changed and evolved over time.

Join us on December 8th at 4:30pm EST/1:30pm PST to discuss "Why pansexuality is so often misunderstood," by Jessica Klein, which appeared on the BBC website. We are excited to welcome to the conversation our own Mackenzie Harte (they/them) from PFLAG National and Kyndal Jackson (she/they) from Tilburg University.

As always, you can find us on FacebookYouTubeTwitter, and LinkedIn.

To learn more--and to check out our discussion questions in advance--visit pflagnation.al/STTALive-120822.

Remember: We're here to help. Find us all at pflag.org/about/our-people.

Let’s stay safe, stay healthy--and stay connected.

We're here for you,
Team PFLAG National
