John,

As I’m sure you’ve heard, last night Iran retaliated against the U.S. for
the asassination of one of their top military commanders, firing missiles
at multiple U.S. military bases in Iraq. The sad truth is, with Trump’s
reckless decision to escalate tensions with Iran last week, we knew it was
coming.

Now, Trump has responded. While in the short term he said we will not
retaliate with our military, his administration will once again escalate
tension by increasing economic sanctions -- the exact same tactic that,
along with abandoning Obama’s Iran Deal, got us to where we are today.

The key is that public pressure is working, John. War with Iran
is not popular and Trump knows it. With the possibility of further
retaliation and aggression leading us into yet another deadly, endless
war, we must continue to fight against any measure that escalates pressure
and stand up for the path of peace and diplomacy.

We have the power to rise in the streets and demand our leaders do right
by the American people, our allies, Iranians, and the rest of the world.

We’ve seen how reckless, impulsive, and dangerous Trump is. He has
catapulted us into this mess by destroying the Iran nuclear deal and the
assassination of Iran’s military commander. He’s already taken to Twitter
to threaten more fire and fury than ever before, even claiming the U.S.
will target Iranian cultural sites -- a war crime.

What happens next in the days and weeks ahead will have life-or-death
consequences. Will our troops be thrown into yet another hopeless, endless
war? Will more innocent civilians be needlessly killed?

John, it’s Congress’s constitutional responsibility to step in
and declare or stop war, and it’s up to us to demand our leaders take the
path of de-escalation and diplomacy instead of further escalation,
violence and war.

[ [link removed] ]Take a stand with us tomorrow, January 9th, at a rally near you to
demand no war with Iran. It's up to us to change the course of history.

Thank you for taking action with us in this critical moment,

-Charles
