Dear reader,

We now know that the next Congress will be split along party
lines, with slim majorities in each chamber. Over the past few weeks,
we've written about what dynamics could be at play in the next
Congress, and how Democrats should watch out for GOP obstruction.
We've also been clear that governing does not end with the GOP
Congress; the White House has numerous opportunities to implement the
laws it's already passed and use its authority to make a difference in
people's lives.

how to make our institutions work for everyone, regardless of the
obstacles, and that will become more and more important in the next two
years.
