We fund voter protection

John,

This news broke just before Election Day and it was a BIG win for voters — on Election Day and for elections down the line.

Republicans had been recruiting thousands of poll challengers in Michigan — a KEY swing state. These challengers would show up on Election Day and observe inside polling places.

Aside from being straight up intimidating, these people might challenge voters’ eligibility to vote. They might hover over voters as they cast their ballots. They might even try to disrupt the process.

There are really only bad outcomes.

But then, the Michigan Secretary of State issued guidance that set reasonable safeguards to ensure voters would NOT be intimidated. And when Republicans sued to have those guidelines thrown out, the Supreme Court stood on the side of the voters.

The system worked for voters. And on Election Day, Michigan voters turned out in massive numbers to reelect Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and elect a Democratic state legislature.

Voters won on Election Day. Michigan won on Election Day. It’s time to make that happen everywhere.

Right now, chip in whatever you can to Power the Vote to support our efforts to defend voting and democracy across the country — including in swing states just like Michigan.

We Fund Voter Protection

In 2020, we ran the Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program in Georgia, when the state flipped blue for the first time in nearly 30 years.

We pioneered a new model of voter protection, built on sustained investments and long-lasting relationships.

Now, we’re building on that success and adapting the Georgia model to fight voter suppression in other states.
