Dear Comrade,
We can't let elected city officials ignore the will of the people.
Despite the outpouring of community support, it's looking like Akron City Council will behave undemocratically to approve the sale and development of White Pond. We have the numbers on our side that demonstrate a clear opposition to the development, and it's important we show up. It's likely that council may vote at the start of next week's meeting, and if that's true, this is your last chance to speak in opposition to developing White Pond, where they plan to destroy our wetlands to build unaffordable rentals.
If you can, please show up to tonight's (12/5) City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Even if you don't speak, your presence is important. You can also register here (by 4 p.m. Monday) to speak over Zoom if you can't make it in person.
And if you haven't already done so, you can still sign the petition here to ask the city to slow down on the sale of White Pond, postponing any development vote until at least April 2023. Please include your ward number.
In Solidarity,
Akron DSA
