His name is Bruce Westerman, and he represents Arkansas’s 4th District in Congress. Westerman, an ultra-conservative Republican, is poised to lead the House Natural Resources Committee in the next Congress.

During his time in Congress, Westerman has consistently sided with Big Fossil and its Washington lobbyists. Since his first run for Congress in 2013, Westerman has received $602,505 in donations to his campaigns from Energy Sector PACs and individuals.

As he prepares to chair the Natural Resources Committee, Westerman is already pressuring the Interior Department to remove restrictions and regulations preventing energy producers from extracting oil and natural gas from federal lands.

In a recent call with reporters, Westerman made it clear that Big Fossil has nothing to fear if he chairs the Committee. He’s ready to give the fossil fuel industry everything it wants, regardless of environmental and climate consequences.

John, we know ultra-conservative Republicans like Westerman will stop at nothing to undo all the progress we’re making on climate change. After all, Westerman answers to Big Fossil, not the American people.
