I have a long list of priorities for this session, from fighting the climate crisis to continuing to tackle homelessness here in Washington state. At the top of that list is enshrining the right to choose into our state's constitution.

But while our fundraising efforts are frozen, far-right anti-choice groups can raise and spend millions in an all-out-attack on reproductive rights here in Washington. To be crystal clear: Washington state's fundraising freeze isn't a bad thing. Elected officials, myself included, should be focused on what we got elected to do: passing laws that protect and improve the lives of all Washingtonians.

But while we dedicate this legislative session to making progress in our state, far-right groups can raise and spend millions of dollars lying to the people of Washington and try to stop us from doing our jobs. And make no mistake, they've been successful halting pro-choice legislation in states even more blue than Washington.

All the while, we can't raise a penny.

So, here's the situation: To have the resources on-hand needed to get this done in the face of the outrageous out-of-state attacks we know are coming, we've got to raise $50,000 before Friday. It's just our unfortunate reality this winter.
