ACTION SPOTLIGHT

Help End Wildlife Extinction Now

With 1 million species at risk of
extinction, losing more of our biosphere and our species will be
catastrophic for humanity.

Earlier this year, tens of thousands of NRDC activists like you
called on world leaders to halt human-caused wildlife and species
extinction.

Now, we need to keep that momentum going when world leaders
convene at this year's global nature protection conference — UN
Biodiversity Conference (CoP15) — just days from now, and urge
them to finalize an ambitious plan to save threatened and
endangered species over the next 10 years.

NRDC staff will be on the ground at the conference. We want to
show world leaders that thousands of NRDC supporters like you are
fighting to protect the natural ecosystems we all depend on.

Tell world leaders to commit to ending wildlife extinction and
confronting the biodiversity crisis — before more species are
gone forever. ( [link removed]

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

World Leaders Met to Plot the Future of
Global Climate Action — Now, a New Era of Work Begins

Representatives from nearly 200 nations
convened in Egypt for COP27, the latest global climate change
conference, last month. Their goal: to strengthen and hasten the
international response to the climate crisis that's wreaking
havoc across the globe.

Leaders agreed to establish a fund to support vulnerable
countries dealing with climate disasters and called for reforming
international financing institutions to invest in more clean
energy and climate adaptation needs. But they failed to reach
consensus on moving faster to phase out climate-busting fossil
fuels, which must happen to avert catastrophe.

Of course, the hardest work is done once leaders return home. In
the U.S. that means, for starters, turning the promise of the
historic Inflation Reduction Act into real climate action in
communities across the country.

Take action: Tell President Biden and key environmental cabinet
officials to keep doing more to fight the climate crisis. ( [link removed]

Court approved a settlement that requires the company to get
mercury out of the Penobscot and to fund environmental and
community projects. Read more > ( [link removed]

Millions of old lead pipes contaminate drinking water in homes in
every state across the country, and the EPA is allowing state
water utilities 30 years or more to get lead pipes out. We need
the Biden administration to remove lead service lines now. Make
