The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act would provide desperately needed protections for millions. Contact your representative now.

ACLU Supporter –

I want to tell you about a bill that's a priority for us in 2020 – one that has serious potential to pass and needs your support.

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act would ensure that workers are no longer denied reasonable accommodations, and that no one is forced to choose between a healthy pregnancy and keeping their job.

We're hoping the House will vote on the bill very soon. In order to have the best chance possible of this bill becoming law, we need to raise broad bipartisan support – right now.

Send a message to your representative asking them to cosponsor the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. ([link removed]

It's hard to believe that pregnant workers still lack critical protections. But the truth is, our current laws have gaps that embolden employers to fire their pregnant workers, force them to quit, or take unpaid leave.

Pregnant employees are routinely denied temporary job accommodations like schedule changes or a break from heavy lifting – even when coworkers who are not pregnant receive such accommodations. And women in low-wage and physically demanding jobs are affected the most.

We have good reason to believe the PWFA will pass: Twenty-seven states and the District of Columbia have already passed similar laws or policies, most with broad bipartisan support and even in states that Trump won in 2016.

ACLU Supporter, as chaotic as D.C. continues to be, we must remind our elected leaders that they have a job to do: defend the rights of their constituents. Does your representative support pregnant workers?

No one should have to choose between a healthy pregnancy and their job. Period. Contact your representative now and urge them to cosponsor the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. ([link removed]
