John, it’s Aunna from Common Cause Georgia here writing with an update on our preparations for the Georgia runoff race in two days.
The entire team at Common Cause Georgia has been hard at work – using the expertise and relationships we’ve spent years building to make sure every vote counts in this highly contested runoff election.
I’m not going to lie to you, John, it’s been hard after we put everything we had into the general election. But the team at Common Cause Georgia is pushing through because that’s our only option.
Georgia’s attempts at voter suppression – including a heinous anti-voter bill passed last year – have gained notoriety nationwide. The state’s track record on voting rights tells us we must be prepared for anything ahead of Tuesday's runoff.
And the national attention on Georgia isn’t making this any easier. We’re up against millions of dollars in special interest money pouring in along with the undivided attention of every election denier in the country.
That’s why we’re pulling out all the stops to protect voters and make sure they decide this runoff election – not candidates and their election denying cronies.
But we desperately need your help, John. Common Cause Georgia put everything we had into this year’s general election. And now we have just two days to finish preparing for the runoff.
As I write you, we’re preparing returning Election Protection volunteers and recruiting new ones across the state to help voters cast their ballot free of confusion and intimidation. But we simply don’t have the resources we need to keep up this critical work.
I’ve seen the difference Common Cause members like you can make. People like you are the reason we could run a massive volunteer operation for the general election – you stepped up majorly like you did in 2020 and had a positive, measurable impact on thousands of voters.
But our fight isn’t over yet. With all eyes on Georgia, I'm asking for your help to train, equip, and place the surge of volunteers who signed up for this runoff election. And right now, you can have double the impact for this critical runoff. A group of generous donors has offered to match all gifts – up to $25,000.
We can’t do this without your help, John. It costs $50 to train and place one Election Protection Volunteer. Can I count on you to donate now and have your gift DOUBLED?
Thank you for your support,
Aunna Dennis, Executive Director
and the team at Common Cause Georgia
