In just 31 days, Republicans will take control of the House of Representatives and launch their plan to force cuts to Social Security… unless Democrats act now to stop them.

Here’s the situation: The federal government is projected to hit the debt ceiling sometime in 2023. At that point, Congress must raise the debt limit, or else the United States will default on the debt, likely triggering a global recession.

So once Republicans get control of the House of Representatives, they plan to create a fiscal crisis by holding the debt ceiling hostage unless President Biden and Senate Democrats agree to deep cuts in Social Security.

It’s a deeply reckless plan, but Democrats can stop it if they lift the debt ceiling — or, better yet, eliminate it altogether — before Republicans take over.

In order to convince Congress to take action, we need to accomplish two things:

1. Educate the American people about the economy and the debt ceiling. We need to make sure people understand that raising the debt ceiling doesn’t reduce spending or increase the federal debt. It simply allows the government to pay bills it has already taken on — and defaulting on the debt would be catastrophic.


2. Mobilize people to take action in the middle of the busy holiday season. Let’s face it — most of us are ready for a short break from politics. But this is too important. So we need to use our social media following to break through the noise with short, eye-catching videos and posts that will get attention during the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

That’s not an easy task, but this is a fight that Inequality Media was made for.
