Aziz* is many things: a refugee, a survivor, a person with a disability. But he’s a child first.
A few summers ago, armed men attacked his village in Myanmar. Struck by two bullets, he hid for a week until the violence cleared.
Aziz’s wound was infected by the time he reached a clinic. At 8 years old, he lost his left leg – and, in part, his education. Some days, he can make the trek to school; others, it’s too exhausting to cross the hilly terrain.
Aziz’s future should be defined by his dreams — not his disability. That’s why Congress must pass the International Children with Disabilities Protection Act.
Friend, this legislation would boost our nation’s worldwide support for children with disabilities, creating a global advocacy fund and helping disabilities rights organizations reach families with lifechanging care.
It’d move us closer to a world where every child has equal access to the tools, experiences and opportunities they need — and deserve — to achieve their dreams.
Let’s make sure Congress gets the message: support the International Children with Disabilities Protection Act to build an inclusive future for all!
