John, climate deniers will stop at nothing to prevent the progress of clean energy programs.

Their latest con is pulled straight from the grifter’s playbook. It’s a deliberate attempt to pull at people’s heartstrings while dividing the environmentalist community.

A coalition of fossil fuel-allied groups is aggressively positioning itself as a green-sounding, anti-wind power group dedicated to protecting endangered whales from offshore wind projects. Their specific target is a project by Dominion Energy to complete a $9.8 billion wind farm 27 miles off the Virginia Beach coast.

When complete, 176 turbines will produce enough electricity to power more than 600,000 homes.

The fossil fuel coalition is striking back against the project with the threat of a lawsuit to protect the right whale from the impact of an offshore wind farm placed directly in their habitat. Scientists estimate that fewer than 350 North Atlantic right whales remain, and the species could soon be extinct.

But here’s the deal, John.

Major clean energy projects take into consideration wildlife factors before beginning production. They work to preserve the delicate balance between taking long overdue action on climate change and protecting endangered species.

The latest attempt by climate deniers to halt progress is nothing more than a poorly crafted con to fool people into believing Big Energy truly cares about the endangered right whale. Slick advertisements, carefully crafted social media posts, and the threat of a lawsuit cannot hide the sinister motives of this phony coalition.
