John – We would like to take a moment to congratulate the recently nominated Hakeem Jeffries for his new leadership role in the House of Representatives.
Hakeem Jeffries will be taking over Nancy Pelosi’s position as leader of the House Democratic Caucus. Jeffries has been serving in public office since 2007, when he began in the New York State Assembly.
He then moved into the U.S. House in 2013, representing the 8th district of New York, and finally moved to leadership in the House Democratic Caucus in 2019.
Jeffries will serve as the House minority leader for the 118th Congress as the GOP secured a narrow lead in the House of Representatives. While the position will be a difficult one to fill as left by Nancy Pelosi, we believe that Jeffries will serve well as the next leader of those in the House.
Jeffries is also the first Black American to serve as an elevated party leader in Congress, paving the way for more inclusion and creating a Congress that is more representative of its constituents across the country.
