John - The Georgia runoff election is just three days away. We have an opportunity with this election to take one step closer toward building the care economy we want and deserve.
That’s why our Georgia team is deep in the throes of another historic voter education effort — making calls, getting people to the polls, and assisting with voter protection efforts — to ensure the voices of women of color voters are heard during the Georgia runoff elections. But we can’t do it without you!
Turnout for in-person early voting for this runoff has set records, with more than 1 million Georgians showing up to cast their ballots. And while we’re happy to see so many people voting, we know that for our democracy to work for all of us, every voter must have their voice heard and their vote counted.
For generations, domestic workers, Black women, and women of color have fought for the right to be heard, to be treated with dignity and respect. That’s why we’re pulling out all the stops to build up our voter outreach and protection efforts to ensure that women of color voters in Georgia turn out in historic numbers on Election Day and have their voices heard.
Doing big things is not new to our movement, especially for our members in Georgia. Atlanta is the birth-place of the modern domestic worker movement. In the 1880s, Black domestic workers went on strike, bringing the city’s white elite to its knees to win better pay. In the 1960s, Atlanta was where the first national domestic workers alliance was born. Our organizers have been on the ground throughout the state, working for years, to build a diverse movement focused on care. The efforts of our worker leaders have been history making and have made one thing crystal clear: when we organize and build power together, we are unstoppable.
Join us, and help fuel our efforts to make history, again, in Georgia.
Thanks for all that you do,
