Not only did we prevent the “red wave” during the midterms, we blocked every single election-denying AG candidate in battleground races. That’s big.
Trust – and democracy – prevailed last month, thanks to you. That’s something to be proud of.
But there’s still a looming threat: GOP AG candidate Abe Hamadeh. He’s currently in a recount for the Arizona AG seat against democracy and election defender, DAGA-endorsed candidate Kris Mayes. These next few weeks are critical. Why? Because even though Hamadeh is behind in the recount and very likely will lose, he and his team are spewing conspiracy theories that are designed to hurt Arizonans’ and Americans’ faith in our elections.
This is part of a multi-year attack on Arizona’s elections. In 2020, Donald Trump and far-right Republicans attacked Arizona’s vote-by-mail and absentee ballot process, and in 2022 they ramped up those attacks with dangerous, violent behavior like monitoring dropboxes with armed gunmen. Now they’re getting ready to file lawsuits that will attack Arizona’s elections even further before the 2024 presidential election.
That’s why this recount is so important for us to win. The 2022 midterm elections are not over – we must finish flipping the Arizona AG seat and protecting our elections ahead of 2024.
