Africa & Europe
Pray for team health, renewed energy and protection as we work within the Karamoja region in Uganda. Our work in this region requires frequent road travel in an area that has sporadic periods of unrest. We have been so blessed to build significant relationships with traditional leaders in this region of the country, so pray as well for the flourishing of the efforts they are making to increase safety for women and girls in the community.
Latin America
Pray for several open cases being worked by our trained partners in Bolivia. Each day trained pro-bono lawyers, social workers, psychologists and paralegals are giving their time and expertise to provide support to survivors of sexual violence. As judiciary vacations are approaching, we ask for your prayers for all pending tasks the courts need to complete in the next couple of weeks in order for these cases to move forward swiftly.
South Asia
Praise God for 14 teen girls who were rescued from bonded labor last week. These girls had been trafficked across the country and were forced to work in a brick kiln. A group of IJM-trained government officials found the victims and rescued them swiftly before arresting two suspects. The girls have already returned home safely to their home state. Pray for their ongoing aftercare and recovery at home and pray that the traffickers would be held accountable under the law.
Asia Pacific
Please pray for ongoing safety for IJM teams as they travel to investigate cases of trafficking and locate suspects in our project areas. These trips often involve traveling to remote rural areas or dense and dangerous red-light districts. We feel confident in our security measures, but always need God to guide our teams’ steps and ensure IJM and our partners remain safe. Pray for great stamina and energy as the teams head out to do their work.
