January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and this year it marks the beginning of the Justice for Immigrants coalition including Anti-Trafficking advocacy as part of its direct advocacy and policy work.

 

It has many exciting and important ways for you to work to end human trafficking in your community and help fight modern slavery in your parish and also with your elected lawmaker. Please join our Become a SHEPHERD community and add human trafficking to your ministries and activities.

February 8th is the Feast Day of St. Josephine Bakhita, who was herself enslaved until asserting her freedom. Her Feast Day has been designated the Catholic Church's World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking.
