It’s that wonderful time of year…when children are creating their Christmas wish lists, getting ready for Santa’s arrival in just a few weeks.
While our kids have to be good little boys and girls to get their presents, the swamp creatures in D.C. have a different way of getting what they want.
Where am I going with this analogy?
I'll cut to the chase. Under our Democrat-led government, Americans have been lied to and hung out to dry because of liberals' sneaky tactics.
Let’s say a politician proposes a bill to fix our roads and bridges—that's exactly what the bill should do. It shouldn’t include camouflaged pay raises, green new deal pipe dreams, and other insider fluff.
I'm sick of folks being taken for a ride by their government due to legislative smoke and mirrors.
That's why I've proposed changes to House legislative procedure to increase transparency. Here are the details of my proposal to make sure Americans have easy access to information about what is really happening in Congress:
- Require House bill titles to describe the bill’s content accurately—no more “Inflation Reduction Act” bills that actually increase inflation
- Require the estimated cost of each bill to be made publicly available before it is brought to the House floor for a vote
- Require the House to vote on each bill individually
- Prohibit procedural bills from including unrelated legislation
- Prohibit bills from being brought to the House floor for a vote without going through the appropriate committee first
- Prohibit bills from undergoing substantial last-minute changes before being brought to the House floor for a vote
These rules would go a long way toward holding Congress accountable, keeping people informed, and keeping the dang woke wish lists where they belong—out of our government!
