Congress must extend the child tax credit before it’s too late.

Dear Friend,

The data is in: The expanded child tax credit established as a pandemic response helped cut the U.S. child poverty rate in half.(1)

It’s one of the most successful poverty-reduction programs in history, and it's wildly popular -- so why hasn’t Congress acted to extend it?

Congressperson Pramila Jayapal and nearly 60 progressives in Congress are urging Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to insist that Democrats stand strong for families with year-end bills, but we are running out of time. We must raise our voice as a unified public.

Sign on to our petition urging Congress to put children first by extending the monthly child tax credit.

While working families suffer, Congress is hearing from powerful CEOs that they want massive tax breaks for corporations.

Many of the same CEOs asking for tax breaks have juiced their profits with greedy price hikes that spiked inflation and made it harder for struggling families to pay rent and put food on the table.

The child tax credit lifted a staggering 2.9 million children out of poverty, with parents reporting that they used the extra money on rent and food.(2) But since the expiration of the credit this year, poverty rates are creeping up again.(3)

The last thing that corporations need is more money in their pockets. But in a time of rampant inflation, working families need the extra support that the child tax credit provides. We have one month to make this big economic impact with a fully Democratic-controlled Congress.

Will you sign our petition and call on Congress to act now?

Thank you for joining the fight.
