I’m not making this up.

In a matter of days, one of America’s largest cities may give its police force the green light to use robots to kill people.

And if somewhere as liberal as San Francisco allows this dystopian insanity, it is only a matter of time before cities and towns all across the country approve killer police robots.

Of course, those in favor of deploying law enforcement robots with lethal force are saying things like “only in extreme circumstances.”

But we’ve seen over and over and over again that when law enforcement is given military grade equipment and authority to use it — even if that authority is supposedly limited — they will use it where it wasn’t justified and they will use it against already marginalized groups, including poor people and people of color. And they won’t be held accountable.

Do you want to live in a world where the police — given everything we know about how law enforcement operates in America — can use robots to annihilate human beings?
