Dear neighbor,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your friends and family. Each year on Thanksgiving, I reflect on how grateful I am to represent our amazing community in Congress. After a great Thanksgiving spent with my family, I flew back to Washington for a busy week on Capitol Hill.
I’m excited and honored to share the news with you that my colleagues in the House have elected me to serve as Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus. I’m excited for this opportunity and look forward to serving our Caucus and our country in this new capacity. I also happen to be the first Asian American elected to the Vice Chair position in our nation’s history.
I congratulate our new Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar. Together, we represent an historic turn for our nation. This will be a leadership team of which all Americans can be proud. I look forward to working alongside these amazing leaders as we continue our mission to deliver lower costs, better-paying jobs, and safer communities for the American people. And as always, the needs of my constituents in LA County will remain my top priority.
Here’s a look at what else I’ve been up to this week:
- Voted for a bipartisan bill to provide a national standard of care to address pregnancy-related needs of incarcerated women.
- Voted in favor of a bill to create resource centers to support those transitioning from incarceration and connect them with the services they need to reintegrate into their communities.
