John,

Before the Thanksgiving break, Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan blocked the
use of Title 42 - a pandemic-era policy used to expel migrants at the
border - finding the policy "arbitrary and capricious" and stating its
authorization was an "extraordinary decision to suspend the codified
procedural and substantive rights of noncitizens seeking safe harbor."
Title 42 is set to remain in effect until December 21, but this can
change, and the administration could appeal the ruling or attempt to
replace the policy with similar restrictions that continue to block
access to asylum.

This public health authority has been an ineffective border management
tool. Not only has it reduced order at the border, but it has put
migrant families in dangerous conditions and has been a boon to cartels
and smugglers.

**We need solutions that promote order and human dignity.**

Without fundamental reform, increasing migration at the border will
continue to pose logistical, humanitarian, and security concerns at the
border. Some believe that Title 42 is necessary right now to help
respond to these challenges, but the policy has created more problems
than solutions. We already know there are other, more sustainable
solutions than Title 42.

Earlier this year, we published a **resource with 42 solutions**

that can lead to a more humane, more orderly and more secure border.
Relying on policies that force migrants into life-threatening conditions
is not the answer.

We need solutions that focus on order, human dignity and respect for
those seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

**It's time to end Title 42. Tell your members of Congress to replace
this inhumane policy with more common sense border solutions.**
