Lately, Kanye West aka Ye has been making all kinds of headlines for all the wrong reasons while dragging the name of Christ through mess.

Yesterday, Kanye went on the Alex Jones show and made several dumbfounding statements such as praising Adolf Hitler while then quoting Scripture and having a Bible directly in front of him as a prop.

It would be easy to write Kanye off and blame him for his very DISTORTED view of Christianity that he has and is out promoting through his different platforms, but I have a different perspective...

When Kanye began embracing his newfound faith in Christ, many prominent Christian leaders paraded him around and began promoting him before the Body of Christ. He was brought before the Church of America and endorsed by many American Church leaders very prematurely.

Paul says in 1 Timothy 3:6: "A church leader must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall."

I believe that a tremendous disservice was done to Kanye from leaders within the Church who capitalized on his popularity instead of discipling him, which he is in desperate need of.

This issue with Kanye is not isolated to just him though, but it exposes a larger problem within the Church of America.

The larger issue is that we have a TON of converts but very FEW disciples.

Right now, Biblical ILLITERACY is at an all-time high in America. Fewer than half of all adults can name the four Gospel writers, while 82% of Americans believe that "God helps those who help themselves" is a Bible verse.

In a recent LifeWay Research study, the Bible reading habits among church attendees was shocking:
- 19% read the Bible everyday
- 26% read the Bible a few times per week
- 14% read the Bible once a week
- 22% read the Bible once a month
- 18% read the Bible rarely or never

In general, American Christians have a poor foundation in the Word of God. This is a major problem and is the reason why I decided to launch Sheridan Bible College.

Currently, we are finishing up our first semester at SBC and it has been tremendous. Our students are receiving a solid foundation.

I want to encourage you to consider Sheridan Bible College as a means for you to grow in your faith and go from a convert to a true disciple.

Registration for the Spring semester is now open. You can attend online or in-person. The cost is very inexpensive: $300 per semester. For more information visit www.sheridan.church/biblecollege
