Axios: Gas prices are now cheaper than before Russia invaded Ukraine.

A gallon of regular gas costs about $3.47 nationally on average, according to AAA. That's below the $3.54 average on Feb. 24, 2022 — the day before Russia's invasion began and gas prices soared to record highs.

Washington Examiner: 'Why people don’t trust government': Haley blasts House GOP's 'secret' earmark vote. “It is totally unacceptable that the House GOP voted in secret to keep earmarks. Every single member owes their constituents an explanation," the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations said, slamming the vote. "This is why people don’t trust government.”

Des Moines Register: Iowa, other states at risk of 'energy emergencies' this winter, group warns. Iowans and other Midwesterners are at risk of "energy emergencies" this winter, given power plant retirements, possible natural gas and coal shortages and railroad disruptions, a national utilities group is warning.

FOX Business: US Treasury authorizes Chevron to expand oil pumping in Venezuela. The Treasury Department said Chevron has been issued an expanded license to import petroleum or petroleum products produced by its joint venture with PDVSA, the Venezuelan state oil-firm. The approval comes after talks resumed between the Venezuelan government, led by socialist President Nicolás Maduro, and the opposition Unitary Platform.
