The DC Young Republicans wish you a very Happy New Year and decade!

A special thank you to Trey Mayfield of JurisDay PLLC, The Winekey Experience, our Host Committee, and special guest, Congressman Andy Biggs.
We hope you are having a great start to 2020, and we look forward to hosting a number of exciting events and activities this year- including- hosting the Young Republican Leadership Conference in March!
We invite you to start the New Year and decade *Right* by joining us for our DCYRs January Meeting! Details are located in the following section.

Doors open at 6:30 PM for networking and drinks (Ca$h Bar) -- bring your Republican friends, coworkers, and interns! Please make sure to RSVP through the main Facebook Event Page ([link removed][UNIQID]) , and we look forward to seeing you there!
In Memoriam: Robert M. Foster, Jr.
We want to take a moment of remembrance to honor the life and memory of one of our own, Robbie Foster, who passed away on January 2nd after a brief and sudden illness at the age of 35.
Our friend and fellow YR, Robbie was truly larger than life. His magnetism drew outsiders into the Young Republican family, and he was a tireless advocate for our ideals. Robbie had beaming energy that made him a great friend to many, and he honored his Country, his State of Florida, and his beloved Gators passionately. His colorful charm, wit, and classic style made him one of a kind. Robbie will always be in our hearts, and he will truly be missed by all.
Rest In Peace, Robbie Foster: Forever a YR, Patriot, and Friend.

2020 Wreath Clean Up with the AFCYRs and DCYRs
Join the AFCYRS and DCYRs this Saturday, January 11th, at 8:30 AM for a morning of service! We will help clean up the wreaths that were placed in Arlington National Cemetery in December. Please make sure to RSVP through the official Facebook Event Page ([link removed][UNIQID]) !
We will meet just outside the Visitor’s Center to the right, near the shuttle depot at 8:30 AM. Please arrive early, as it takes some time to get in to the cemetery. Be sure to wear warm clothes that you do not mind getting dirty (the wreaths will have been out in the elements for a while!), and bring sturdy gloves and any kind of broom, rake or pole (if you have one) for transporting numerous wreaths.
Schedule considerations:
7 AM – Metro rail opens (system-wide)
8 AM – Arlington National Cemetery gates open.
8:45 AM – Clean-up begins.
From the Arlington National Cemetery official website:
"Volunteers are asked to pick up ONLY those WAA wreaths placed in December, leaving any other wreaths or decorations in place. There will be several dumpsters placed throughout the cemetery to dispose of the wreaths.
We have a very limited number of dumpsters available so we ask the volunteers to pack the wreaths as tight as possible in the dumpsters and to stay available at least until noon, if possible, to help with any extra wreath disposal needed at locations throughout the cemetery.
We have found it helpful if you bring a stick, pole, rope, rake or something equivalent to support carrying multiple wreaths per dumpster trip. Please dress for the weather and wear gloves and water-proof footwear."
Looking forward to seeing and working with you all for this wonderful service opportunity!

The Gala has always benefited a local VSO, everything from Dog Tag Bakery to a local DAV Chapter. Since 2014, the Gala has been attended by over 1,200 guests and raised over $100,000 for veteran non-profits.
The 2020 Gala will again be held at the French Embassy in Washington, DC on February 8, 2020, honoring the Franco-American alliance that has been in existence since the American Revolution.
VIP is from 6-7 PM and GA is 7-10:30 PM.
The event organizers have secured room blocks for guests at the Kimpton Glover Park and Embassy Suites Georgetown for guests who would like to make an evening out of this event.
