Bowman for Congress

John,

2022 is wrapping up, and with it — Jamaal's first term in Congress!

Jamaal's leadership has led us to a year of success for our progressive vision. And while we know there's so much work to do in the future, we're proud to take a moment to share with you all of the impact of our movement.

But before we do, all of the work that Jamaal has done in Congress has only been made possible by your support. No matter what you are able to donate, we're continually grateful for your support and contributions to our progressive movement. If you are able, please consider donating $3 to Jamaal and our campaign today to help us keep up this much needed work.

This cycle, Jamaal was able to introduce 21 pieces of legislation, more than 28 amendments, and 206 programmatic and language requests in the 117th Congress! Together, we were able to uplift key pieces of legislation that tackle the root of many of our communities' issues like education, climate, violence prevention, fighting corporate greed, and workers' rights to start.

Some of our most notable legislative pushes were:

  1. The Green New Deal for Public Schools which would invest $1.43 trillion over ten years in America's K-12 education system. It would fund healthy green amenities for every public school in NY-16, provide additional support to high-need schools for hiring, social service programming, curriculum development, and more. This bill centers our youth in our national response to the crises of climate change, systemic racism, and economic equality.
  2. The Resolution Condemning the Replacement Theory addresses the atrocity that occurred in Buffalo, NY on May 14th, 2022. The resolution officially condemns the Great Replacement Theory as a White supremacist conspiracy theory, and reaffirms the House's commitment to combatting White supremacy, hatred and racial injustice. This Bowman resolution also passed the House, which is a rare accomplishment for a freshman congressman.
  3. The Emergency Price Stabilization Act would expand the White House Supply Chains Disruption Task Force to monitor and analyze price changes, proactively investigate corporate profiteering, and make recommendations to the President for appropriate, strategic controls and regulations, and engage and mobilize the public.
  4. The Heating and Cooling Relief Act would invest $40 billion annually over 10 years to help end energy poverty for households across the country and support a just transition away from fossil fuel consumption.
  5. The Ending Corporate Greed Act would tax the windfall profits of large corporations with over $500 million in revenue to remove the financial incentive to raise prices more than is economically necessary.

This term in Congress saw transformative legislation pass both houses as well. The Inflation Reduction Act will cut prescription drug costs and lower the cost of healthcare for millions, reform the tax code so massive corporations pay their fair share, and make the biggest investment in combating climate change and building a green economy in history. The Respect for Marriage Act will help protect the rights of LGBTQ+ and interracial couples. And earlier this term Congress made historic investments in infrastructure and COVID relief to help us rebuild.

Hi John, there's so much more we can share about our accomplishments this 2021-2022 term — but there's one thing that needs to be said first: Thank you.

As one of our most dedicated supporters, we're honored to know that you have continued to support Jamaal and our collective work to build a stronger, more inclusive democracy that represents us all. So, John, help us keep up the momentum in the new cycle with a donation of $3 or anything you are able to give.

Thank you,

Team Bowman
