Dear Friend,
Today is World AIDS Day—a time to come together to renew our commitment to the ending the stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
At Immigration Equality, we are acutely aware of the ongoing dangers LGBTQ people living with HIV face worldwide. One in every five of our clients is living with HIV— often forced to flee their country of origin due to HIV-related persecution or lack of access to life-saving treatment.

HIV has not gone away, neither has the stigma around it. Not even close.
As recently as 2010, immigrants living with HIV could be denied a short-term visa or permanent residence simply because of their HIV-status—a policy Immigration Equality fought and successfully ended alongside coalition partners.
We’ve come a long way, but there’s still a long way to go. Join us in renewing your commitment to ending stigma and discrimination against all people living with HIV. support asylum seekers like Gustavo.
