This week, House Democrats elected a new generation of leadership – and the new trio of top Democratic leaders is historic
My good friend Rep. Hakeem Jeffries will become the Democratic Minority Leader, making him the first Black leader of a congressional party caucus. Joining him in leadership are Rep. Katherine Clark as whip, and Rep. Pete Aguilar as the party caucus chairman.
It has been an honor to serve alongside Reps. Jeffries, Clark, and Aguilar in Congress, and I have the utmost confidence that their leadership will guide House Democrats to major legislative and electoral victories.
With a GOP majority in the House, Democrats will have to work hard to defend our progress and deliver results for working families – and it’s clear that our new leadership will tirelessly work to do just that.
We should be proud to welcome this new generation of Democratic leadership, and one that looks like America. Join me in congratulating Reps. Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, and Pete Aguilar!
Let’s hit the ground running in the new session!
