Friend, public lands are part of our identity as Californians.

From Joshua Tree National Park in the desert, to Muir Woods National Monument in the Bay Area, to Yosemite National Park beyond the Central Valley, these iconic destinations are where we go to spend time with family and friends and to find solace in nature.

But what you may not know is that scientists have told us that protecting large swaths of public land is one of the most effective ways to address the climate crisis. These beautiful sites are incredibly important for protecting our clean water, sequestering carbon, and maintaining the health of all Californians.

Right now, our federal legislators are debating whether or not to further the protections of public lands. The PUBLIC Lands Act has been introduced by California’s own Senator Alex Padilla and we need your help to ensure that it passes through Congress.

Friend, would you please take a moment to sign this petition urging our country’s leaders to pass The PUBLIC Lands Act?

We’ve seen what happens when policymakers refuse to prioritize public lands. These spaces end up being under-resourced and underfunded. Protections for places like Bears Ears National Monument in Utah are thrown aside. And California is left without desperately needed investments in wildfire mitigation.

We cannot allow that to happen anymore.

The PUBLIC Lands Act would make critical investments in protecting California’s natural treasures while offsetting ongoing climate threats like droughts and wildfires.

Sign our petition to make sure our natural spaces are treated with respect and become a priority as a climate, water, and public health solution >> [link removed]

Your support for these historic and important natural spaces will go down in history. Thank you.
