[ [link removed] ]Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress
On Monday, President Biden asked Congress to intervene on a looming
railroad workers strike. Management and labor had struck a deal in
September, but more than half of the unions voted against it because the
agreement only included one day of paid sick leave. Despite that, the
President asked the House to pass the agreement without any changes.
But at the request of the unions, Alexandria and progressives fought tooth
and nail for an amended agreement that included 7 days of paid leave and
leadership was forced to bring it to the floor. Yesterday, the agreement
and the amendment with 7 days paid sick time passed in the House of
Representatives. Our union brothers, sisters, and siblings applauded the
effort.

But our fight is not over. Today, we have a narrow window for a full
pressure campaign to get our Senators on board.

you take a few minutes today to call your Senators and urge them to
support paid sick leave for railway workers?

Railroad workers grind themselves to the bone for this country as their
labor produces billions for Wall Street. If Congress intervenes, it should
be to have workers’ backs and secure their demands in legislation.
Let’s get these sick days,
