Johh,
I'll start by saying that my heart continues to be with the LGBTQ+ community and the families of the ones who were lost less than two weeks ago at Club Q. It's been inspiring to see our community come together to grieve and uplift. I am proud that we have stood in solidarity to offer comfort and support.
But on the heels of yet another mass shooting, I ask: when will we as a nation finally stand up and end the gun violence epidemic?
Thoughts and prayers have never been enough. They weren't enough after Columbine, they weren't enough after Aurora, and they sure as hell aren't enough for the families of the five who were lost on November 19.
We can’t become numb to mass shootings; too many lives have been lost and communities devastated in preventable tragedies.
For years, I've been on the front lines of the fight for common-sense gun laws because I know if we want to move forward and put an end to gun violence in the United States, we must take meaningful action in Congress.
We need to get assault weapons off our streets, enhance background checks, and ban high-capacity gun magazines, and we need to do it now. If you agree that it's time to finally pass swift and common-sense gun safety legislation, sign this petition and add your name right next to mine.
