Hej John,
The 6th Congress of the European Green Party is going to start tomorrow morning! We are already in Copenhagen and very excited to welcome the Green European family.
While many of you will be here with us, we also want to give everyone who cannot make it to Denmark the opportunity to join in with the Congress. In this email we will explain to you, how that works!
See you in Copenhagen or online!

Official Opening
In the opening session our Co-Chair Mélanie Vogel will deliver a speech on Green perspective on the war in Ukraine, the future of Europe and the state of democracy. Moreover, Pia Olsen Dyhr, the Party Leader of our Danish member party SF, will welcome the Green family in Copenhagen.
Another part of the opening session that we are looking forward to is the video address of Oleksandra Matviichuk, a human rights lawyer, activist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate from Ukraine. This speech will be followed by a performance from the Ukrainian band B&B Project, playing the bandura, a Ukrainian instrument and symbol of the fight for freedom.

Plenary: Greens in Government
Energy crisis, increasing inflation, climate change, and the war in Ukraine. Citizens all over Europe feel the consequences of these crises in their daily lives, especially those already struggling. Greens are taking on more responsibility in these extremely difficult times. This plenary will feature several Green ministers from across Europe to showcase that Greens are taking on important political battles on social and environmental issues, rule of law, equality, and more, and to highlight how green majorities can change the daily lives of citizens for the better.

Plenary: Green and Social Solutions to the Energy Crisis
|
This session is organised by the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament. The panelists will discuss the solutions Greens have to offer to protect Europeans from the social consequences of the energy crisis and the increased cost of living. We’re looking forward to this discussion between Members of the European Parliament, among them Terry Reintke, Co-President of the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament, and member party leaders like Ricarda Lang, Co-Chair of the German Greens.
|
Plenary: Food (In)Security: Green Solutions for Resilient Food Systems
|
This plenary session aims to highlight the grave shortcomings of the current food system, outline innovative solutions to the interlinked crises of the war, global food shortages, and harmful industrial food productions. We will pinpoint Europe’s responsibility in the current global crisis as well as discuss actions that are already being taken by Greens in positions of power to ameliorate the effects on the population. EGP Co-Chair Thomas Waitz will discuss this issue with Pippa Hackett, Minister of State on Land Use and Biodiversity at the Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine in
Ireland, Adenike Titlope Oladosu, Executive Director and Founder of 'I Lead Climate Action' initiative, and Marie-Louise Boisen Lendal, CEO and founder of the Danish think tank Frej.
