I am so damn tired of seeing places like Colorado Springs or Chesapeake, VA start to trend on social media as a sick, sinking feeling starts to form in the pit of my stomach. Followed by my clicking on a story only to have my worst fears realized--we've had our latest Newtown. Tucson. Santa Barbara. Parkland. Orlando. Dayton. El Paso. Tree of Life. Fort Hood. Mandalay Bay. The list is as endless as it is heartbreaking.

It. Must. Stop.

This past year, for the first time in 30 years, Congress acted on gun violence. No, we didn't come close to getting everything we need. Yet, that Republicans felt pressured into addressing long-term priorities of the gun violence prevention movement--including a national gun trafficking law and closing the "boyfriend" loophole, which had allowed many violent men to continue to legally purchase firearms--was still a huge step forward.

This happened largely because of Giffords. Giffords was founded because of the terrible tragedy that befell then-Rep. Gabby Giffords, who while holding a town hall meeting in her Tucson, AZ district was shot through the head and nearly died.

The tragedy led Gabby and her husband--recently re-elected Senator Mark Kelly--to devote their lives to solving the problem of out-of-control gun violence in America, and your support today can help them take this fight to the next level, for all of us.

Donate: Help Gabby Giffords’ fight for sound gun laws

Giffords has been a leader in this fight, helping pass not just the national legislation, but guiding President Biden's many executive orders to fight gun violence and helping pass groundbreaking gun laws in states around the country from California to Virginia, Vermont to New Mexico.

Yet, the gun violence of the past few weeks reminds us that as much as we've done, there is still so much left to do. We shouldn't have to live in a country where we worry when our kids leave for school in the morning or we look around for the nearest exits when we walk into a mall or movie theater. It is despicable, really.

So while this issue is on our minds--knowing it's only a matter of time until the next one and the one after that, unless and until we have passed universal background checks, universal red flag laws, an assault weapons ban, a high capacity magazine ban and more--would you please join us this holiday season in saying ENOUGH, and giving a donation of $10, $20 or whatever you can, to Giffords as this incredible organization fights to make the lives of our families safer?

This holiday season let's all hope for a country free of the scourge of preventable gun violence.
