November Porker of the Month |
On October 30, 2022, Secretary Buttigieg sat down with CNN’s Chris Wallace to discuss America’s crushing inflation. Wallace pointed out that prices are up 8.2 percent over last year and asked Secretary Buttigieg why shouldn’t voters hold Democrats responsible for inflation, to which he replied, “because what we are doing is helping with the cost of living.” That is unequivocally false (unless he meant making everything more costly). For months, Democrats have refused to take any responsibility for what have done to raise prices. Since President Biden took office, inflation increased by 13.2 percent to the highest levels in more than 40 years. Secretary Buttigieg also claimed that the Inflation Reduction Act “allows people to pay less for things,” but everyone who buys anything knows that is incorrect.

Congress and the Biden administration continue to increase the size, scope, and power of the federal government over healthcare. This includes the damaging pharmaceutical price controls in the Inflation Reduction Act, which will dramatically reduce future treatments and cures. CAGW’s report makes it clear that the best way to cure what ails the U.S. healthcare system is to adopt fiscally responsible, free market, patient-centered reforms that will increase access to quality healthcare at an affordable cost.

On November 18, 2022, CAGW filed comments with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in response to the agency’s advanced notice of proposed rulemaking on its Trade Regulation Rule on Commercial Surveillance and Data Security. If the rule is approved, the FTC would have unprecedented and likely unconstitutional power to set consumer privacy rules across the entire economy. CAGW urged the FTC to abandon this effort and allow Congress to enact laws to protect consumer privacy and set parameters for all federal agencies to administer the laws. CCAGW Weighed in Successfully on the Following Ballot Initiatives: |
Alabama’s Amendment 2 will allow local government to provide broadband funds to private entities, creating the opportunity for increased broadband access without the establishment of government owned networks.
California voters rejected Proposition 30, which would have implemented a 1.75 percent tax increase on individuals making over $2 million and used the revenue for electric vehicle incentives, charging infrastructure, and forest fire prevention. Colorado Proposition 121 reduced the state income tax rate from 4.55 percent to 4.4 percent. Tennessee Constitutional Amendment 1 enshrined the right to work in the Tennessee Constitution, which means there is a prohibition against workplace contracts that require union membership. |
