Heat pumps work a lot like regular ol’ refrigerators. They can cool a building by moving heat from inside a building to the outside. But amazingly they are also able to do the reverse, moving heat from the outside in, all without needing to burn any fossil fuels. They also happen to be much cheaper than traditional heating methods! You can install these with the help of the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act, which designates rebates and tax credits just for heat pumps.
