New Americans made history this year.
From school boards and city councils to state legislatures and Congress, NALpistas like Yadira Caraveo stepped up to run for office, becoming the first Latina to represent Colorado in Congress. In Alaska, Genevieve Mina decided to move from serving as a legislative aide and community advocate to running for office, becoming one of the youngest serving members of Alaska State House of Representatives. And in Ohio, Munira Abdullahi broke barriers as the first Somali American and Muslim woman ever elected to the Ohio state legislature. These are just a few of the New American Leaders alum who owned their power and potential in our democracy by running for office, becoming the leaders their communities need and creating a democracy that works for all of us.
Now as we look ahead to 2023, we think you should join them, John! The first step? Join us at one of our 2023 training programs!
We know that even with these incredible wins we still have work to do. If we want to push back against extreme policies, protect our rights, and create a country where our leaders represent and work for all of us, then we need even more New Americans—people like YOU—to get ready to run, win and lead in 2023 and beyond.
By attending one of our in-person trainings, you'll learn how to own your power, share your authentic New American story, connect and engage with voters, fundraise, and get ready to shake up politics as usual.
So what do you say? Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey?
Learn more about our programs by attending an upcoming information session or apply for a training today!
In Solidarity,
The NAL Team
