Weeks have passed since the midterm elections, but some counties in Arizona and Pennsylvania have failed to certify the election results before the legal deadline.¹ The election officials who are dragging their feet have no legitimate concerns about the election’s integrity. In Arizona, gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, has refused to concede to governor-elect Katie Hobbs. Lake and Trump have both made unfounded claims that Arizona’s results are inaccurate.

The fact that we are here *again* in 2022, facing election deniers who threaten our democracy, makes the situation dire: We must hold the people who tried to overturn the 2020 election accountable. Sign the petition if you agree: Trump, Steve Bannon, and Trump’s cronies openly attacked our democracy in 2020 and need to face the consequences.

When we speak up, we see results. Last year, thousands of people demanded that Steve Bannon be held accountable for blocking the January 6 select committee’s investigation. Soon after, federal prosecutors recommended that he serve six months in prison and pay $200,000 in fines.²

But Bannon recently appealed his conviction on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress and gets to remain free instead of serving his four-month prison sentence. This is just another example of Trump and his chums believing they are above the law.

Unless these election deniers are held accountable, they will continue to endanger our democracy and attempt to overturn our elections. The stakes are high. Add your name now to protect future elections and call for 2020 election deniers to face the consequences.
