Learning disorders aren’t the only thing that can get in the way of learning. When a child is struggling in school, an undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorder may be the reason. Teachers may see symptoms of distress in the classroom, but it can be challenging to figure out what’s causing them because many diagnoses share the same symptoms. Kids who have difficulty paying attention, for example, can be impacted by ADHD, trauma, anxiety or OCD.
This week on childmind.org we have rounded up some of our best articles about identifying mental health issues in school. We break down what different disorders look like and share advice about how to help kids who may be struggling.
