With everything happening in the Middle East, it’s easy to lose track of all the other terrifying developments happening here at home. Just last Thursday, 39 Republican Senators with the backing of 189 House members have made it very apparent they are NO LONGER the party of individual liberties. Last week, these Republican legislators signed an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn Roe V. Wade in an all-out attack on a pregnant person’s right to choose. It’s no mystery today's Republican Party, including our current Representative, Kenny Marchart, has completely villanized reproductive rights.

What’s scarier is the Republican candidates looking to succeed Kenny are far more extreme. From Beth Van Duyne, who has been endorsed by extremist anti-choice groups such as, Texas Right to Life and Susan B. Anthony List, to candidates like David Fegan who have made incendiary comments like,

“I am staunchly pro-life and will work to eliminate abortion from our culture.”

Not only is this alarming, but it’s completely unacceptable.

I will unapologetically stand with the majority of Americans who believe out-of-touch lawmakers in Washington have no business telling an individual what they can, or can not do with their own bodies. As your next Congressman, I will fight for things like codifying Roe V. Wade into law, repealing the Hyde amendment and voting against any attempt to further strip away a person’s constitutional right to choose.
