Dear John,

2019 was our busiest year ever. The American Immigration Council was at the forefront of the effort for a fair and just immigration system.

We advanced change in the courtroom by challenging unjust immigration policies like the expansion of fast-track deportations using “expedited removal.” We secured the release of infants in immigration family detention. And we continued to set the record straight on controversial immigration law and policy developments through our research and analysis.

Here’s a snapshot of the Council’s accomplishments in 2019:

  • 20 fact sheets and reports published.
  • 5 affirmative lawsuits and 4 Freedom of Information Act lawsuits filed.
  • 24 amicus briefs filed advocating for fair and just immigration laws.
  • 10,000 detained families seeking protection were assisted at the largest family immigration detention center.
  • 250 articles posted on our blog, Immigration Impact.
  • 1,000+ news mentions in over 2,500 outlets nationwide.

Thank you for being a part of our team—together, we will continue this critical work in 2020.

Sincerely,

Beth Werlin
Executive Director
