COP27: Fighting for every last 0.1°C as the human health impacts of the climate crisis mount

Over the last 12 months alone, events associated with climate change, such as heatwaves, floods and wildfires, have caused disruption, illness and death on an alarming scale. 

The link between climate change and human health is becoming increasingly clear - and the private sector is uniquely placed to step up. But how?

At COP27, the Climate and Health Coalition, a collaboration convened by Forum for the Future and including Bupa, Haleon, Reckitt and Walgreens Boots Alliance, launched the latest guidance for the private sector on how to urgently tackle what is now recognised as a complex dual challenge.

"COP27 has reinforced a simple truth for me.  We must hold the despair of this moment in time, the fact that millions of people have already lost their livelihoods as a result of climate devastation.  For these people, tangible action to avert the worst is already too late. However, this despair should not paralyse us." 

Forum’s Chief Executive Dr Sally Uren shares her reflections on COP27. Having attended the much-anticipated Conference, she notes the good, and the bad, as well as the need to hold both hope and despair if we’re to create a just and regenerative future.
