Dear Friend of NCLEJ:
I am writing to let you know that, after more than 23 years of working at NCLEJ, I am retiring as of 1/31/2020. I could not have been more thrilled to help NCLEJ achieve its mission as a Senior Staff Attorney, Director of Litigation, and Executive Director. I am honored to have been able to work with and at an organization that has made a profound difference for so many low-income individuals, families, and communities. NCLEJ has used the rule of law to ensure that hungry people receive the food they need when they need it, protected health coverage for millions, fought for equal access for persons with disabilities, challenged unfair procedures in the administration of government programs, championed civil rights for communities of color and immigrants, and done so much more.
I am equally honored to have worked alongside a great staff over these years. The results NCLEJ has achieved have been possible only by the hard work, creativity, skill, and passion of truly committed individuals who labor mightily to make this world a better place for all, irrespective of their income. We have also been fortunate enough to work side-by-side with very able, hard-working, and dedicated public interest colleagues and pro bono partners.
It is because NCLEJ is in such a strong place, with an excellent staff, new and talented leadership, and a Board dedicated to the success of the NCLEJ, that I can move on to my next path with the knowledge that the struggle will be waged well and that NCLEJ will continue to make a difference. While I will miss the office and the work, I will not be abandoning the arena; but simply channeling energies in new directions.
Finally, during my tenure at NCLEJ, we have been honored to have a very strong donor base that has shown time and time again a commitment to economic justice, civil rights, and the rule of law. NCLEJ literally could not have survived without the help of supporters such as you. During my tenure as Executive Director (and earlier) I turned repeatedly to you and our other supporters to ask for financial and other help in sustaining the great work of NCLEJ. Well, once again, as I prepare to enter the phase of my life, I ask you one last time to support the Center and to give generously.
Dennis Parker, our Executive Director, will shortly share information concerning how the Director of Litigation responsibilities will be covered after my retirement.
Starting February 1, 2020, I can be reached at

Thank you so very much and all the best,
Marc
