Climate Justice Moves Closer to Center Stage at UN Climate Talks

At the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), for the first time ever, the world’s wealthy, industrialized nations agreed to help more vulnerable countries cope with climate-related destruction through a dedicated “loss and damage” fund. The new fund is a long-overdue effort to remedy climate injustice by addressing the loss of life, cultural sites, infrastructure, agriculture, and entire communities due to climate change and extreme weather events.
