John,

Today, we woke up yet again to tragedy. Yesterday afternoon in Gilroy California, a gunman took the lives of three people and injured 12 more.

John, our hearts break again. Families mourn again. A community asks itself how this could happen again.

Our gun laws are broken.

Today, we’ll repeat the typical process: thoughts and prayers from national leaders, and inaction from Congress.

I’m going to ask you to do two things today to make things different:

1. I want you to call Congress and tell them we need stronger gun laws NOW: (202) 224-3121

2. I want you to make a contribution today to Brady so that we can continue to fight for stronger laws and to work to prevent tragedies like these.

We don’t know all the details of this shooting. Law Enforcement is still working its way through the evidence, talking to witnesses, and examining the scene of the crime. But I know this: there is a bill to expand background checks on Mitch McConnell’s desk and he has refused to take action. We know that expanded background checks will save lives. And while they may not have stopped this tragedy, they can stop future tragedies.

John, make today different: Call Congress and then make a contribution to help keep up the fight.

Best,
Kris
