Dear NRDC Activist,
You know what's on my mind this Giving Tuesday? Scientists.
Since joining NRDC's board, I've learned to pay really close attention to the scientists, and what they're saying recently is pretty alarming.
Like, we're running out of time to stop our planet from burning up. And millions of species are at risk of going extinct in the next few decades. And if something doesn't change fast, we may not have a livable planet for future generations.
I know, it's a wake-up call. And it may leave you wondering: what can we do that will make a real difference?
Lucky for you, I've got the answer: Join me and support NRDC this Giving Tuesday. Every dollar you donate will be MATCHED $1-for-$1, up to $250,000! Can you chip in just $2?
If you respond before MIDNIGHT tonight, they’ll throw in a reusable canvas tote bag for FREE!
Your donation will go TWICE as far to beef up NRDC's incredible team of scientists, lawyers, and organizers to:
- Go after polluters — that want to expand oil and gas drilling, spew pollution, unleash more toxic waste, threaten the health of our communities, and never have to clean anything up.
- Push for more climate action — like getting our government to fast-track investments in clean energy and set stronger pollution standards for cars, trucks, and power plants.
- Ensure safe drinking water for all — especially in Black, brown, and low-income communities where children are at risk of drinking lead-contaminated water.
- Protect old-growth forests — from clearcutting, like in the boreal forest where Procter and Gamble is mowing down ancient trees in part to make Charmin toilet paper.
- Restore the Endangered Species Act — in order to save species at risk of extinction, like gray wolves, polar bears, and Florida panthers.
- Cut plastic pollution — which gets dumped into our oceans and suffocates marine wildlife.
Talk about a huge undertaking, and I couldn't think of a better team of expert litigators, scientists, and campaigners to have on our side.
I really hope you'll join me in supporting NRDC today with a matched donation for Giving Tuesday. Your gift will be doubled and will allow NRDC to do so much more for our environment.
But don't just take my word for it!
NRDC has been named "one of the top 10 charities changing the world" by CNBC.
The New York Times says they're "one of the nation's most powerful environmental groups."
And the Wall Street Journal wrote "they're the most effective lobbying and litigating group on environmental issues."
So trust me: Your MATCHED donation of just $2 for Giving Tuesday will make a big difference in solving some of our planet's greatest challenges.
And remember, if you respond by MIDNIGHT, NRDC will send you a reusable canvas tote bag to thank you for your support.
I know there are a lot of great causes out there that you can give to today. So, thanks in advance for joining me in supporting NRDC this Giving Tuesday.
It means so much to me personally — and it means even more to our environment.
Thanks so much,
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
