Dec. 1 Health Equity Summit Open to All
A summit to be live-streamed December 1 will focus on ways to advance equity in health care workforce decisions and private-sector policies, including breaking down barriers to leadership roles for all. Panelists for “Building Equity in Nursing and Health Care Leadership” include speakers from sponsors AARP, the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, AHIP, The Leapfrog Group, UnitedHealth Group, and The Joint Commission.

“Courageous Careers” Inspiring Talks Now Online
In October, the American Academy for Nursing annual policy conference featured stirring talks from nurses telling how they found their voices and life work. Now the TED-like talks—featured in a recent Campaign for Action post—are online along with the audience Q&A. The talks were part of AAN’s Institute for Nursing Leadership in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Future of Nursing Scholarship Program and AARP.

Funds Offered to Organizations To Help Ease Nursing Shortage
Institutions with programs that can help increase the number of nursing educators and expand and diversify the pipeline of nursing professionals are invited to apply for the U.S. Department of Labor’s new Nursing Expansion Grant Program, which offers $80 million to help ease America’s nursing shortage. One aim is to increase the number of educators; the second, to advance nurses in their educations and careers. Applications are due by January 6.
